Carleton sends Eagles home with 2-0 loss

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team suffered its fourth consecutive loss on Tuesday afternoon, falling to MIAC champion Carleton College in a 2-0 final. A pair of goals that came 15 minutes apart helped the host Knights boost their regular season record to 12-3, while the Eagles fell to 4-9-1 on the year.

Miles Silbert tapped a pass from Ryan Cammarota passed Northwestern's Josh Niedermayer (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Morraine) at the 44:35 mark to give Carleton a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime period. The Knights added an insurance goal in the 59th minute, as Ross Hamilton capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity to make up for the 2-0 final score.

Carleton, who won its 10th consecutive game, got 12 shots off in the game compared to Northwestern's eight.

Niedermayer worked 78 minutes in front of the net, saving one shot while yielding two goals. AJ Olivero (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) finished the final 11 minutes in change in front of his hometown crowd, recording one save.

Northwestern returns to the practice field for a couple days until Friday, when the Eagles host Martin Luther College in a 3 p.m. contest at Reynolds Field.
