Box Score

ASHLAND, Wis. -- A Matt Lamb goal eight minutes into overtime gave Northland College the nod in a 2-1 final against Northwestern College on Friday afternoon. The win was just Northland's second in conference play this season.

Jared Huston (Corcoran, Minn./Heritage Christian Academy) (Corcoran, Minn./Heritage Christian Academy) got things started for Northwestern, as the sophomore found the back of the net at the 18:53 mark. Huston took a pass from Cory Swenson (Wausau, WI/Northland Lutheran High School) (Wausau, Wis./Northland Lutheran) to beat Northland's Matt Fryer with his shot.

After a 1-0 Northwestern lead at halftime, Anthony Weidner tied the game for the Lumberjacks with a goal in the 72nd minute. The two teams couldn't settle the score in regulation, moving on to overtime where Lamb scored the game-winning goal for Northland at 98:34.

Northwestern outshot the Lumberjills 15-3 and held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. Huston's goal was the first of his collegiate career. The sophomore also has an assist to his name in 2009.

The Eagles (4-9-1, 4-4-1 UMAC) will take a few hours off before returning to the pitch on Saturday afternoon. Northwestern will play the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. in a 2 p.m. affair.
