Women's Hoops claims lopsided win over North Central

MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 14, 2009) – Northwestern was on the winning end of a lopsided 64-19 game on Wednesday night, as the Eagles trounced North Central University. NWC had scored 28 points before allowing a Rams field goal, which came with 6:56 left in the first half.

Following a 39-7 score at halftime, the Eagles kept pace, outscoring North Central 25-12 in the second period before settling with a 64-19 final.
 
Northwestern shot 35.4 percent from the field while holding NCU to 17.9 percent for the game. 20 of NWC's points were in the paint, while the Eagles scored 38 points on 39 North Central turnovers. Rebounding was also in Northwestern's favor, as they owned a 47-31 advantage on the boards.

Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) led all players with 13 points in a game where everyone in a Northwestern jersey recorded more than 10 minutes of playing time. Katie DeWitt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) added 11 points, while Kaelee Kendrick (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) had nine points and nine rebounds in 14 minutes.

Caitlin Jusczak scored 11 points for North Central, who is still seeking its first win at 0-9.

Northwestern (5-10 overall, 3-1 UMAC) will look to extend its three-game winning streak on Saturday, Jan. 17, when the Eagles host Crown College for Hoops Hysteria. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
