NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Sep. 6, 2008) -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team had their chances against their fourth straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) team on Saturday, but those chances evaporated as St. Olaf College defeated the Eagles 1-0.
A goal by the Oles' Scott Crider in the 60th minute made all the difference, as his goal was the only one scored by either team in the game.
Northwestern had four breakaway opportunities in the game. Three of them resulted in missed shots, while a fourth was saved.
St. Olaf out-shot NWC 13-7. The Eagles'
Danny King (Willmar, MN/Willmar High School) (Wilmar, Minn./Wilmar) saved four shots, while St. Olaf's Alex Kuehl recorded two saves.
Northwestern (1-3, 0-0 UMAC) will take a lengthy break before returning to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 16, when they host another MIAC opponent in Carleton College at Reynolds Field. That game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
