All 14 Play in 3-1 Win Over North Central

Minneapolis, Minn., Sept. 20, 2007 – Everyone on the Northwestern College volleyball roster that was healthy saw the court Thursday night, as the Eagles used their strongest offensive performance of the season to beat North Central University 3-1 (30-15, 30-16, 29-31, 30-22) in Minneapolis.

NWC followed the lead of Sarah Whitmore (Prior Lake, MN/Prior Lake Christian) (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake Christian), as the middle blocker had ten kills on 15 attempts to boost the Eagles' attacking percentage to .308 for the match.

Northwestern had two other players in double-digit kills as well in Kathryne Engel (Wayzata, Minn./West Lutheran) (Wayzata, Minn./West Lutheran) and Steph Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing), as both tallied 13. Hillary Slagter (Prinsburg, Minn./Central Minnesota Christian) was NWC's top setter for the night, recording 26 assists while Ashley Filipi (Fertile, MN/Ada-Borup High School) (Fertile, Minn./Ada-Borup) and Leah Kostek (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian ) (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) had 17 and 16 kills, respectively.

Whitmore, combined with teammate Laura Bicket (Zion, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) (Zion, Ill./Zion-Benton Township), continued to do what they do best in the blocking category. Both were a part of seven blocks, contributing to Northwestern's 16 for the evening. Bicket is averaging 1.27 blocks per game, while Whitmore is close behind with 1.20 per game.

The win helped Northwestern continue their climb in the win column, where they currently stand at 7-8 in 2007. The Eagles will have a chance to eclipse .500 on Saturday, when they take part in a quad hosted by Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minn. The Eagles will play Gustavus at 11 a.m., followed by a match with Hamline at 1 p.m.
