Box Score

ST. PAUL (Nov. 21, 2008) –
The Northwestern College women's basketball team recorded its first win of the 2008-09 season on Friday night, pummeling North Central University 67-14 at the Eagles' Radisson Tip-Off Tournament. NWC held their opponents to just five first-half points.

Katie DeWitt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) scored 18 points in 25 minutes to lead Northwestern (1-2). DeWitt made seven of her 14 attempts while grabbing five rebounds in the game.  Everyone in an Eagles uniform played, as the team shot a season-best 38 percent from the floor. North Central was only able to convert six of its 42 shots in the game. Naomi Sanon accounted for all but three of the Rams' points in the game.

Marcy Nelson (Sandstone, Minn./East Central) (Sandstone, Minn./East Central) added 12 points to NWC's offensive attack, going 5 of 9 from the floor. Melissa Moore (Niagara, Wis./Florence) (Niagara, Wis./Florence) and Anna Weddig (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) posted eight rebounds apiece for the Eagles.

Northwestern will have a more formidable opponent in Judson University in Saturday's 5 p.m. tournament championship game. Judson defeated UW-River Falls, whom NWC fell captive to on Tuesday, by a score of 74-40 in the other semifinal to earn their spot in Saturday's finale.
