Eagles, Knights battle to 0-0 tie

NEW ULM, Minn. (Oct. 24, 2008) – Northwestern College and Martin Luther College battled to a scoreless tie on Friday, as each team was fighting to stay in contention for the upcoming Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) playoffs, which begin on Nov. 4. The two teams are only a game and a half apart of one another with just three conference games left to play.

Northwestern edged Martin Luther in shots by a 21-18 margin, but none of the nine combined shots on goal went in after 110 minutes of play. NWC goalkeeper Danny King (Willmar, MN/Willmar High School) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) had five saves in the game. King has posted six scoreless showings in 2008.

The Eagles will take the field again on Saturday, this time at Bethany Lutheran College for another UMAC contest. That game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
