Box Score

MANKATO, Minn. (Jan. 19, 2008)
– The Northwestern College women's basketball team wasn't able to recover from a 22-point halftime deficit on Saturday, as the Eagles had their four-game winning streak snapped by Bethany Lutheran in a 76-60 final.

Down 42-20 after the initial 20 minutes, NWC went on a tear midway through the second period to put themselves in contention, but fatigue kicked in soon thereafter, and the Vikings held on for the victory.

Northwestern shot a difficult 33.9 percent in the game, making 31.6 percent of their three-point attempts. Bethany countered with a 46.7 percent-performance from the floor while out-rebounding the Eagles 46-36.

Kaelee Kendrick (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) missed tying her career high by one in the game, leading Northwestern with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting. The sophomore also brought down a team-high eight rebounds. Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) was the only other Northwestern player to reach double figures, scoring 10 points on a rough 3-for-12 night. Liesch also grabbed six rebounds while tallying three assists and three steals in the loss.

The Vikings had three players score double-digit points, led by Eva Voss's 24. Voss also had 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Northwestern (6-10, 4-1 UMAC) will regroup and take to the road again next weekend, when they make the long drive to Presentation and Minnesota-Morris. Friday's 5:30 p.m. contest will feature the Eagles against Presentation and the UMAC's leading scorer in Callie Antonsen, who is averaging 25.1 points per game.
