ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 24, 2007 – The Northwestern College women's basketball team fell again in their quest for win No. 1 on the 2007-08 season, losing to Hamline University by a score of 72-50 in the Pipers' season debut.
Hamline received 13 points from Jessica Heinen and 10 from Rochelle Sather, as the Pipers shot 45.5 percent from the floor, while the Eagles struggled at 25.9 percent in the game.
Northwestern stayed with Hamline in the second half, as the Pipers out-scored the Eagles 34-33 in the period. It was the initial 20 minutes that hurt NWC though, as they were only able to produce 17, while Hamline jetted out to 38 first-half points.'
Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) led Northwestern with 15 points – 11 of which came in the second half. Liesh had six rebounds to go with her offensive production.
Rachael Bohnen (Grand Marais, MN/Cook County High School) (Grand Marais, Minn./Cook County) went 5-of-8 from the free throw line to throttle her eight points on the night.
At 0-4 in the young season, Northwestern will try again for their first victory on Tuesday, Nov. 27, when they host Viterbo University in the Ericksen Center. Tuesday's start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
