Kyle Krecklow is entering his 11th season as an assistant in 2024 on Coach Grosz's Men's Basketball coaching staff. Coach Krecklow played point guard for Coach Grosz at Northwestern from 2000-2004.
In Coach Krecklow's years on the UNW Men's Basketball coaching staff, the Eagles have been one of the most consistent teams in the UMAC. During the 2014-2015 season, Coach Krecklow's first season, the Eagles won 18 straight games after starting the season 2-9. Coach Krecklow was on the bench as Porter Morrell hit a buzzer beating three point shot to defeat #3 St. Thomas in the first round of the NCAA National Tournament. The shot would appear as the #4 play of the night on Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays.
In 2018-2019, Coach Krecklow was with the Eagles as they once again went on an NCAA Tournament run. The Eagles traveled to Collegeville to play #8 St. John's in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. UNW won the game in decisive fashion, 93-78, to advance to the round of 32 where they would fall to the eventual National Champions, UW-Oshkosh.
During the 2020-2021 season, Coach Krecklow and the Eagles appeared on Sportscenter once again. Freshman Henry Fahnbulleh hit a buzzer beating three from the corner to defeat Trinity Christian and send the Eagles to the NCCAA National Tournament. The shot would be given the honor as the top play of the night on Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays. The Eagles would go on to win the NCCAA Division I National Championship in 2021.
In 2021-2022, the Eagles went 22-7 and won the UMAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Eagles qualified for the NCAA National Tournament and lost by a single point to Pomona-Pitzer in the tournament.
During Coach Krecklow's time on the UNW coaching staff, the Eagles have won five UMAC Championships, have appeared in the NCAA National Tournament five times, and have appeared in the NCCAA National Tournament (where they would go on to become National Champions) once.
Coach Krecklow graduated from Northwestern with a bachelor's degree in business in 2004. When he is not sitting on the Northwestern sidelines, Coach Krecklow is working full-time for M/I Homes selling new construction.
Coach Krecklow currently resides in St. Louis Park, MN with his wife, Megan.
