SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Northwestern Women's Golf team is putting its 3-0 record this season on the line this weekend, teeing it up at the Twin Ports Collegiate, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Day One
Through one round, UNW finds itself in second place, eight strokes behind the leader UW-Eau Claire, after turning in a score of 312 (+24).
Morgan Philyaw (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) led the way with a 74 (+3), featuring a pair of birdies on the front nine, and finds herself alone in second place.
Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) is tied for sixth after an opening-round 77 (+6), while
Brielle Lenz (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) sits in ninth place after carding a 78 (+7), including a streak of eight-consecutive pars to go out in 37.
Bri Brandt (Blaine, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) is the fourth Eagle in the top 10 after day one, tied there with a score of 79 (+8).
Ellie Rolland (Otsego, Minn./Rogers), the final member of Northwestern's starting five, finished the day with an 89 (+18). Three Eagles made the trip to compete as individuals, separate from the team competition, and were led by
Kylie Voight's (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) 82 (+11).
Hailey Nelson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) was just behind Voight with an 83 (+11), while
Izzy Lee (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) finished at 90 (+19).
UNW will conclude play in Superior on Saturday, with tee times beginning at 12:20 PM.
