MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team traveled a smaller group of athletes to the Gary Wilson Invitational on Wednesday, hosted by the University of Minnesota. The seven Eagle athletes competed alongside 44 NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and unattached teams in the largest meet of the season.
Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) delivered a strong performance in the 800m, running a season-best 2:17.14 to finish 6th out of 59 runners.
Alaina Wojtowski (Oshkosh, Wis./Valley Christian) sprinted to a time of 12.36 in the 100m, finishing 27th out of 51 runners and leading all Division III competitors. She also competed in the 200m, clocking a 25.83 to place 36th.
In the 1500m, three Eagles took to the track.
Cheyanne Scalese (Lancaster, Minn./Lancaster Public) led the group with a personal-best 5:10.09 for a 12th-place finish, followed by
Natalie Van De Riet (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) in 19th (5:21.77) and
Samary Acuna (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) in 30th (5:39.27).
Jessica Redman (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) competed in the 3000m steeplechase, placing 18th with a time of 13:91.61.
Lily Hubbard (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) recorded a season-best in the high jump, clearing 1.50m (4'11").
With a one-day break, the Eagles will return to the track on Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, for the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational at Macalester College.
