ST. PETER, Minn - The University of Northwestern women's track and field team competed at the Gustie Twilight hosted by Gustavus in St. Peter on Wednesday afternoon, turning in a strong showing highlighted by a win, multiple personal bests, and a program record.
Alaina Wojtowski (Oshkosh, Wis./Valley Christian) delivered a standout sprint performance, placing 5th in the 100 meters with a 12.75-second finish before setting a new program record in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 26.03. Her mark breaks the previous record of 26.26 set by Deanna Trucksess in 2023. She finished 5th, only behind Division I runners from St. Thomas.
Emily Neumann (St. Agusta, Minn./Sauk Rapids) also recorded a personal best in the 100 meters (13.33), while every Eagle competing in the 200 meters posted a personal best.
Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) led the way with a first-place finish in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in 4:54.89. She also contributed to a 5th-place finish in the mixed 4x400 relay alongside Joshua Ringsmuth, Will Dorch, and
Lidia Castro (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) with a time of 3:52.39.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) turned in a strong field performance with a 2nd-place finish in the javelin, recording a throw of 35.39m (116' 1").
Samary Acuna (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) led the distance group in the 5,000 meters with a 3rd place finish in 22:03.54.
Torah Barrett (Belle Plaine, Minn./Jordan) followed closely in 4th with a personal-best time of 22:09.56, while
Chloe Zimmerman (Helena, Mont./Capital) placed 5th in 22:37.70.
The Eagles packed the 1,500 meters with depth behind Maki.
Cheyanne Scalese (Lancaster, Minn./Lancaster Public) placed 5th with a personal-best time of 5:11.16, while
Caroline Stokes (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) finished 8th with a finish of 5:20.73 after earlier competing in the 800 meters.
Natalie Van De Riet (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) took 10th in 5:21.46, followed by
Jessica Redman (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) in 12th with a personal-best finish of 5:27.20. Izzy Yuhanna returned from injury to place 13th in her season debut with a personal-best time of 5:33.55, and
Alicia Arredondo (Robbinsdale, Minn./Homeschool) added another personal best in 15th (5:35.22).
In the 800 meters, Stokes led the group with a 10th-place personal-best finish of 2:39.25.
Mariah Klippenes (South Haven, Minn./Annandale) placed 12th (2:44.71), followed by Van De Riet in 14th (2:46.52) and
Olivia Usselman (Stillwater, Minn./Math and Science Academy) in 15th with a season-best 2:51.46.
Jessica Redman (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) also competed in the 400 meters, placing 10th with a time of 1:09.86.
Lily Hubbard (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) added a 4th place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters (4' 9"), and also recorded a personal-best time of 19.00 in the 100-meter hurdles.
Katie Shilts (Cameron, Wis./Cameron) contributed in the jumps with a 5th place finish in the long jump (4.81m | 15' 9.5") and an 8th place personal-best mark in the triple jump (10.27m | 33' 8.5").
