ST. PAUL, Minn. - After its first full-team meet of the indoor season, the University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team already has its first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week award in-hand. Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) was named UMAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after a record-breaking performance on Saturday in St. Paul.

At Macalester's Vanessa Seljeskog Classic, Maki broke her own school record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:06.27 (previously 3:07.90). The showing earned her fourth place in the race, just one second behind the winner. It is the second time in her track and field career the senior has won the weekly conference honor (she has won two in cross country as well), and she now holds four indoor program records.

Maki and the Eagles will be competing at the CSB/SJU Invite on Friday, January 30th in Collegeville, Minnesota.
