FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – Following the men's race, the sun broke through and made for a warm 6K in the Suzy Wilson Women's Maroon Race, hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Eagles battled through the heat and hills of Les Bolstad Golf Course to finish 13th overall in a field of 24 teams consisting of Division II and III athletes.

Leading the charge, Ellie Nelson (Redwood Falls, Minn./Redwood Valley) surged to a 25:12.5 finish, claiming the top spot for Northwestern for the second race in a row, placing 63rd overall. Right behind Nelson, Isabelle Yuhanna (Ham Lake, Minn./North Lakes Academy) crossed the finish line at 25:34.1, and Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) clocked a time of 25:37.8, giving the Eagles a tightly packed trio at the front. Caroline Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) followed with a 26:37.5 performance while Cheyanne Scalese (Lancaster, Minn./Lancaster Public) rounded out the scoring five by turning in a 27:03.2 finish.

Close behind, Mariah Klippenes (South Haven, Minn./Annandale) finished her first collegiate 6k in 27:11.0, and Alicia Arredondo (Robbinsdale, Minn./Homeschool) pushed to a 27:47.9 finish. Chloe Zimmerman (Helena, Mont./Capital), Jessica Morrone (Phillips, Wis./Phillips), and Kennedy Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) finished their first 6k with times of 29:53.4, 35:16.5, and 36:09.6, respectively.

Northwestern will take the course again on Thursday, October 3, at the Blugold Invitational in Colfax, Wisconsin. The women's race will start at 5:15 PM at Whitetail Golf Course.
