MAPLEWOOD, Minn. – In its final tune-up before the NCAA Division III National Championship, the University of Northwestern Women's Golf team took on Augsburg University in a dual at Keller Golf Course on Thursday afternoon. Due to the Auggies only having three players, no team scores were kept. However, UNW put up a strong showing including a pair of first-place finishes on its way to shooting 332 (+44) as a team.
This probably wasn't hard to guess, but the two Eagles who tied for first place (along with Augsburg's Elizabeth Fagerlind) were sophomores
Morgan Eckman (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) and
Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool). The pair each shot 80 (+8) with 10 pars apiece, while Eckman carded a birdie on the par-three 15
th hole.
Isabelle Lee (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) had a career day despite the overcast conditions, birdieing the 12
th hole en route to a career-best 85 (+13), which is six shots clear of her previous low round.
Sondra Melby (Ham Lake, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) had a good day as well, turning in a final tally of 87 (+15).
Ellie Rolland (Otsego, Minn./Rogers) closed things out with a 93 (+21).
The Eagles will have some time off to get dialed in for the NCAA DIII National Championship, beginning May 11
th in Williamsburg, Virginia. We will have plenty of coverage from Virginia on unweagles.com and @unweagles on social media.
