COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – On the eve of a pivotal final day of conference play, the University of Northwestern Women's Tennis team played one final non-conference match at the College of Saint Benedict. In what officially marked the middle of a five days, five matches stretch for the Eagles, they were defeated by the Bennies, 0-7.

In doubles play, Isabelle Sullivan (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) and Yerly Rothwell (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) suffered a 0-8 defeat at No. 3, while Abby and Paige Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) fell 2-8 in the No. 1 match. At No. 2 doubles, Elise Jarchow (Luverne, Minn./Luverne) and Caitlyn Swigart (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) fought hard but came up just short, losing 6-8.

Saint Ben's continued to roll as singles matches began. Sullivan lost 0-6, 1-6 at No. 5, while Rothwell fell 2-6, 1-6 in the No. 6 match. At No. 1 singles, Abby Johnson (Zimmerman, Minn./Homeschool) was defeated 2-6, 3-6, and Swigart dropped her No. 4 match, 4-6, 1-6.
