GREENVILLE, S.C. - The National Christian College Athletic Association announced its National Student-Athlete of the Week winners for the week of February 12th-February 18th, and the University of Northwestern's
Stewart Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Homeschool) earned the honor for Men's Tennis. It is the fourth time Morrell has taken home the weekly honor in his illustrious career on the court.
Morrell continued his scorching hot start to the 2024 season with a 4-0 Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin. At Edgewood College, he teamed up with
Jacob Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) for an 8-7 (11-9) win at #1 doubles before cruising to a 6-0, 6-4 win at #1 singles. Later in the day, the senior collaborated with
Darin Rupp (Sioux Falls, S.D./Roosevelt) for an 8-5 win versus Buena Vista University at #1 doubles before finishing his dominant day with an 8-1 (pro set) win at #1 singles.
The 4-0 day not only improved Morrell's individual record to 10-0 in 2024 and helped his team earn a 5-0 start, but also tied him with UNW assistant coach
Davis Pfaff (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) for the most combined wins in program history at 116. Morrell will have a chance to break the record Saturday when the Eagles take on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Bloomington.
