ST. PAUL, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team has been on a roll over recent weeks and that success continued on Saturday at the Rider/Bolstorff invitational at Macalester College. The day included more individual event victories, personal bests, and National Tournament qualifying times.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) has been hitting her stride over the past few weeks, especially in the javelin throw. In the Eagles' last meet, Ashton finished second overall and just missed winning the event. On Saturday, she broke through and picked up her first individual win of the season. Ashton won the javelin with a distance of 36.28m. Ashton's day did not end there as she put up a career best distance of 32.44m in the discus which gave her a top twenty finish.
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) found herself at the front of the pack of multiple races as she usually does. The sophomore picked up two top five finishes on the day with a time of 12.72 seconds in the 100m dash for fourth place, and a time of 27.05 seconds in the 200m dash for a third place finish.
Caroline Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) had an important performance in the 3000m steeplechase when she finished 11
th overall with a time of 12:51.72. This performance was so important because it means she will be competing in a National meet this spring. Her time was good enough to qualify her for the NCCAA Nationals later this spring.
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) finished the 100m dash with a time of 14.01 seconds and the 200m dash with a time of 29.71 seconds.
