DUBUQUE, Iowa – University of Northwestern Men's Lacrosse traveled down to University of Dubuque for a Saturday afternoon conference game. The Eagles fell to the Spartans 13-4.
Dubuque scored the first two goals of the game.
Thomas Alderson (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) then put UNW on the board with an unassisted goal midway through the opening quarter. The Spartans scored five more times in the first half to take a 7-1 lead into halftime.
The Spartans scored thrice more to start the second half, but
Austin Lemke (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Saint Croix Lutheran Academy) broke their scoring streak by scoring for Northwestern with a minute left in the third quarter, assisted by
Sam Moses (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East).
Dubuque scored next in the fourth quarter, but Alderson answered for the Eagles with UNW's third goal of the game, assisted by
Christian Mitchell (Oak Grove, Minn./PACT Charter School). The Spartans scored twice more, but Lemke gave UNW the final goal of the game in the final two minutes, assisted by
Connor Proshek (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount).
On defense,
Jakob Montesi (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) and
Jared Schultz (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) each had three caused turnovers to lead Northwestern. In goal,
Robert McHenry (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) had 16 saves.
In faceoffs,
Ryan Adkins (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) led the way by winning 13-of-18.
