WINONA, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team was back in action on Saturday after battling weather and field conditions over the past few weeks. The Eagles competed in the SMU Cardinal Invitational on Saturday.
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) had a strong day finishing second overall in two races: the 200m and 400m dashes. The sophomore ran a time of 27.00 seconds in the 200m and 1:01.13 in the 400m.
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan), who was competing in a town that was named after her (that fact has not been verified by any historical sources), ran a time of 14.45 seconds in the 100m dash which gave her a 14
th place finish. She also finished 18
th overall in the 200m dash with a time of 30.03 seconds.
Priscilla Wright (St. Paul, Minn./Central) and
Caroline Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) competed in the 800m race. Wright picked up a top ten finish with a time of 2:34.97 and Ringsmuth finished in the top 15 with a time of 2:44.35. Ringsmuth also ran in the 1500m race and finished 14
th overall with a time of 5:39.73.
The Eagles' 4x400 team of
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake),
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan),
Priscilla Wright (St. Paul, Minn./Central), and
Caroline Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) finished 7
th with a time of 4:41.12.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) competed in multiple field events. She threw a distance of 26.01m in the Discus and 32.84m for a 4
th place finish in the Javelin.
UNW will be back in action on Wednesday, April 16
th at the M City Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota.
