SUPERIOR, Wisc.- The University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team competed in their final indoor meet of the season this past weekend when they took part in the 2023 UMAC Indoor Championships in Superior, Wisconsin. It was an impressive weekend full of strong performances from the entire team and it was highlighted by an unbelievable and historic performance all weekend long by sophomore
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake).
It is hard to fathom what
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) did at the indoor track on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Superior this past weekend. The sophomore did the unthinkable and swept all three sprinting events at the UMAC Championships. Trucksess won the 60m, 200m, and 400m dashes. The performance is one of the most impressive in not just UNW Track and Field history, but UNW Athletics history. Trucksess ran a time of 8.20 in the 60m, 27.20 in the 200m, and 1:01.65 in the 400m. Congratulations Deanna on making Eagle history!
Trucksess was not alone in running impressive times for the Eagles this past weekend.
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) set PRs in both the 60m and 200m dashes, including running a time of 30.27 seconds to finish in the top 20 in the 200m finals. Warden also finished in the top ten in the 400m finals with a time of 1:09.63.
Priscilla Wright (St. Paul, Minn./Central) finished sixth overall in the 800m race by finishing with a PR time of 2:37.27. Wright also set a PR in the mile run with a time of 5:48.72. That was also good enough for a sixth place finish.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) finished 13
