NORTHFIELD, Minn.- It was a busy weekend for the University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team as
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) competed in the Snowshoe Open hosted by the University of Minnesota on Friday, and the entire team competed in the Tostrud Classic hosted by St. Olaf College on Saturday.
On Friday, on the campus of the University of Minnesota,
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) competed in the 400m dash and finished fourth overall. Trucksess' time of 1:01.45 was only six-tenths of a second behind the current school record (which she currently owns herself). Trucksess trailed a single Division III athlete in the race, and two Division II athletes.
On Saturday, at St. Olaf, Trucksess led the way for the Eagles once again. The sophomore finished in a tie for third place overall in the 60m dash by running a time of 8.28 seconds. She also picked up a fourth place finish with a season best performance of 27.27 seconds in the 200m dash.
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) also had a big Saturday afternoon for the Eagles. The freshman sprinter picked up two career PRs at the Tostrud Classic. Warden finished with a time of 30.32 seconds in the 200m dash and a time of 1:09.47, which was good enough for a top ten finish, in the 400m dash.
Priscilla Wright (St. Paul, Minn./Central) also picked up a career PR by finishing with a time of 2:39.33 in the 800m run.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) came away with her own career PR by throwing a distance of 8.72m in the shot put.
