SUPERIOR, Wisc.- Indoor track and field season continues to roll along and the University of Northwestern Women's Track and Field team was back in action on Saturday afternoon competing in the Mayday Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The Eagles continue to put together a strong month of February by turning in some more solid times in their latest competition.
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake), the reigning UMAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, had another strong afternoon. The sophomore made the podium in the 60m dash by finishing in third place overall with a time of 8.17 seconds. Trucksess also finished in third place overall by running a time of 27.38 in the 200m dash.
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) is another sprinter for the Eagles who also competed in the shorter distance races. Warden ran a time of 9.25 seconds in the 60m dash and a time of 30.65 seconds in the 200m dash.
Priscilla Wright (St. Paul, Minn./Central) competes in the longer races for the Eagles and she had a fourth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:47.06. Wright also broke the six minute barrier in the mile run with a time of 5:50.72.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) continued to represent the Eagles in the field events by posting a distance of 7.60m in the finals of the shot put.
The Eagles continue to draw nearer to the 2023 UMAC Indoor Championships which will take place on the weekend of February 24
th. However, UNW has one more meet to get ready for the championships as they will be competing in the St. Olaf invitational on Saturday, February 18
th.
