MENOMONIE, Wis.- The University of Northwestern Women's Indoor Track and Field team began their 2023 season by competing in the Warren Bowlus Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Eagles got off to a strong start by turning in some impressive times and performances on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Deanna Trucksess (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) led the way for UNW. Trucksess is coming off of a freshman season in which she broke school records and won events, and her sophomore season got off to a similarly impressive start. The sophomore finished third overall in the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.20. She also ran a time of 8.29 seconds in the 60m dash, and finished 8
th overall in the 200m dash with a time of 27.48 seconds.
Winona Warden (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) ran the 60m dash and came across the finish line in 9.35 seconds. Warden also competed in the 200m and 400m dashes and finished with times of 31.35 and 1:13.09 respectively.
Priscilla Wright (St. Paul, Minn./Central) also competed in multiple events for the Eagles. The freshman ran the 800m race in 2:47.06 and finished in 10
th place overall with a time of 6:08.15 in the mile run.
Emily Ashton (Camas, Wash./St. Mary's Academy) competed in the shotput and put up a distance of 8.05m.
The Eagles will be back in action on February 4
th at the Gopher Classic.
