ST. PAUL, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Women's Soccer team traveled for a road contest on Saturday, but they didn't have to go far. The Eagles stayed within St. Paul as they made the short trip to face off with the Macalester College Scots. The Eagles dropped the road contest, 3-0.
The first half was all about the defenses from each team. The first 45 minutes of play passed without either side finding the back of the net. Shots on goal were hard to come by in that first frame as the Eagles were not able to muster up an attempt on net while the Scots were only able to manage two of their own.
After the scoreless first half, the Scots got their offense rolling right away in the second half. Just five minutes into the frame, the home team found the back of the net and just 36 seconds later the Scots scored a second time to take a 2-0 lead. A late insurance goal in the 85
th minute would get us to the final score of 3-0.
Reagan Flaschberger (Shoreview, Minn./Centennial) had three saves in net for UNW and
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) along with
Briella Babcock (Byron, Minn./Byron) fired shots for the Eagles' offense.
The Eagles will be back at home when they host Viterbo University at Reynolds Field on Tuesday, September 13
th. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 P.M.
