Eagles Fall to Yellowjackets in Regular Season Finale

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team battled the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets on Sunday in their regular season finale. The Eagles fell 8-1 to the Yellowjackets. With the win, UW-Superior secured the outright UMAC Championship.
 
Tyrus Studer (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens) earned the lone team point for the Eagles. The senior won his #6 singles match 6-3, 7-5 for Northwestern.

Stewart Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Homeschool) battled in a thriller at #1 singles, falling narrowly 7-6, 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker in the first set and a marathon 11-9 second set tiebreaker.
 
Up next for Northwestern is the UMAC Tournament. The Eagles enter the tournament as the #2 seed and will face the #3 seeded Bethany Lutheran College Vikings on Friday starting at 6:30 P.M. at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
