HANCOCK, Mich. – University of Northwestern Women's Basketball took on Finlandia University on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell to the Lions 70-56 in the non-conference contest.
Finlandia took a 15-5 lead in the first quarter. The Eagles shot 7.1 percent from the floor in the opening frame, making 1-of-14 shots from the field.
Northwestern started to find their shot in the second quarter, shooting 31.3 percent from the field. The Lions, however, made 7-of-17 for a 41.2 percent clip to go up 32-21 at the half.
In the second half, the Eagles shot 33.3 percent from the field, but the Lions made 44.1 percent of their shots to maintain their lead and take the game 70-56.
River Landers (Grand Meadow, Minn./Grand Meadow) led the Eagles with a career-high 13 points on 4-for-10 shooting from the field, just missing a double-double with nine total rebounds.
Allison Terry (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) led UNW with 13 rebounds in the game; a career high for the freshman and the game-high for an Eagle this season.
Up next, Northwestern will return home to face Crown College on Friday, December 9, at 7:15 P.M. in the Ericksen Center.
