Women’s Basketball Falls to UW-Stout

ST. PAUL, Minn. – University of Northwestern Women's Basketball hosted University of Wisconsin-Stout on Tuesday evening in the Ericksen Center for a non-conference contest. In the final home game for UNW in 2022, the Eagles fell 83-45 to the Blue Devils as UW-Stout improved to 8-1 on the year.

In the first two quarters, the long-range shooting of the Blue Devils powered their offense to a lead, making 5-of-8 (62.5 percent) from three-point range in the first quarter and 3-of-6 (50.0 percent) in the second. The Eagles struggled in the first quarter, going 2-of-14 from the field, but turned it around in the second by making 62.5 percent of their shots. At halftime, Stout led UNW 42-17.

Northwestern's shooting stayed strong in the third quarter as the Eagles wend 6-of-11 for a 54.6 percent clip with makes on both three-point shots. However, the Blue Devils shooting would remain strong in the second half as Stout put up identical 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) shooting lines in both the third and fourth quarters to power their way to an 84-45 victory.

Lexi Hagen (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) led the Eagles with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Jasmine Sondrol (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River) had nine points, four rebounds, and three blocks off the bench.

Up next, Northwestern will travel to Iowa to take on the University of Dubuque Spartans on Saturday, December 17, at 1:00 P.M. The Eagles will return to the Ericksen Center in 2023 on January 3 for a home game against Finlandia.
