ST. PAUL, Minn. – University of Northwestern Men's Basketball hosted University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday afternoon in the Ericksen Center for a conference contest. The Eagles led at the half, but the Cougars rallied with a big second half to take a 93-83 win.
UNW shot 41.9 percent from the field in the opening half, making eight three-pointers on a 42.1 percent clip to take a 45-33 lead at halftime. In those first 20 minutes, the Eagles won the turnover battle 9-4. Northwestern also had five offensive rebounds to just one for Morris.
In the second half, the Cougars shooting caught fire as they made 17-of-33 for 51.5 percent from the floor. A key for Morris was their free-throw shooting, as the Cougars went 23-for-24 from the line in the second half and 30-for-31 in the game. The Eagles shot well in the second half at 44.1 percent from the floor, but the Cougars managed to outpace them 60-38 to rally and win 93-83.
Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) led the Eagles with 26 points, a new single-game career high for the junior. He was 11-of-16 from the floor and made 2-of-3 three-pointers. Fahnbulleh just missed a double-double with nine rebounds in the game.
Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) had 12 points, three assists, and a block.
Seth Fuqua (Colorado Springs, Colo./The Vanguard School) had a team-high six rebounds and scored 11 points, going 3-for-5 from three-point range.
Caleb Hoilien (Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy) had 10 points and a team-high three steals.
