Roseville, Minn. -- The University of Northwestern Eagles (1-2) fell to the Macalester Scots (1-2) 71-59 on Wednesday evening.
The Scots jumped out to an early 14-6 lead in the first quarter before Northwestern took its first lead of the contest with 1:04 left in the second quarter on a
Lexi Hagen (Jordan, Minn./Jordan) three. Hagen scored 17 of her 18 points in the first half to help give the Eagles the 28-27 lead at halftime. The Scots capitalized on a 23-point third quarter to take the lead for good in the contest. The two squads both scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late for the Eagles. An and-one from
Jasmine Sondrol (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River) with 6:02 left made it a ten-point game but then Macalester stretched the lead back out to 16 with 3:14 to go.
Hagen led the way with 18 points and five rebounds.
Livvy Grosz (New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony) added 12 points on four threes and Sondrol also ended in double figures with 10 points.
