BECKER, Minn. – University of Northwestern Women's Golf competed in the opening round of the 2022 UMAC Championship on Thursday. The Eagles finished the day tied for first place with the University of Minnesota Morris after shooting a 367 (+79). Crown College holds third place 25 strokes behind the Eagles and Cougars after recording a 392 (+104) on the day. Maddy Bloedel of Northland currently holds the top stop overall, shooting an 84 (+12) in the opening round.
Day One Results
Mattie Krause (Clear Lake, Iowa/Clear Lake) and
Kelly Van Den Bussche (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) both tied for fourth place overall, leading the Eagles with a 90 (+18) in the first round.
Claire Haakenson (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) finished just one stroke behind the lead UNW duo, shooting a 91 (+19) to tie for sixth overall on day one.
Samantha Burkhart (Salix, Iowa/Westwood) recorded the final counted UNW score of the first round, shooting a 96 (+24) to place 11
th overall.
Kirsten Darling (Coon Rapids, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) tied for 12
th overall on day one, shooting a 97 (+25).
Up next for Northwestern is day two of the UMAC Championship. The Eagles will return to Pebble Creek Golf Club on Friday to compete in the second round of the three round championship.
