Eagles Win Their Fourth Consecutive Game, Defeat the Polars 3-0

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Women's Soccer team had won three games in a row as they traveled on the road to take on Crown College on Saturday night. The Eagles extended that winning streak to four consecutive games as they defeated the Polars 3-0.

These two teams played earlier this season on September 22nd in what was a tightly contested contest that ended in a tie. For the first 60 minutes of Saturday's contest, it was more of the same. The game remained a scoreless tie throughout the entire first half and 15 minutes into the second half. However, in the final 30 minutes of the game, the Eagles' offense came to life.

With the offense struggling to get that first goal, the Eagles' two leading scorers stepped up to get the Eagles on the board. Haley Mersberger (Kiel, Wisc./Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah) was the one who finally broke the scoreless tie in the 63rd minute when she scored her 19th goal of the season. The Eagles led 1-0 and would get some insurance goals as Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) scored her 9th goal of the season with the assist coming from Megan Corbett, and then Corbett would score herself in the 87th minute. The goal was her first of the season and was assisted by Mya Chan (Brandon, S.D./Homeschool)

Delaynee Bohatta (Hammond, WI/St. Croix Central) started in goal for the Eagles and finished with a shutout as she made two saves. Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) led the Eagles' offense with three shots in the contest as Mya Chan (Brandon, S.D./Homeschool) and Megan Corbett added two shots each of their own.

The Eagles next game will be at home against Northland on Friday, October 21st. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 P.M.
