Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | David Pederson

Eagles and Rams Play to a Draw at Reynolds Field

ST. PAUL, Minn.- UNW Men's Soccer returned home on Tuesday night after a couple of consecutive UMAC contests on the road. The Eagles hosted the Rams from North Central University and for the second consecutive game for UNW, they finished in a draw. The Eagles and the Rams played to a 1-1 tie.

All of the scoring in this contest came in the first half. It was the visiting Rams that delivered the opening blow as they scored in the 13th minute to take an early 1-0 lead on a ball that was crossed into the box and deflected into the net. Approximately twenty minutes later, the Eagles drew even. After acquiring possession, the Eagles put on a passing clinic around midfield. Aaron Hill (New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View) found Jackson Bauer (Lake in the Hills. IL./Huntley) who delivered a beautiful ball deep down the field that found the foot of David DeLoye (Wausau, Wisc./Wausau West). DeLoye scored the first goal of his career and season as he tied the game up at one goal apiece.

That 1-1 score would hold up all the way until the final whistle blew after 90 minutes of play. The first half was even in the shots category as the Eagles narrowly outshot the Rams 8-6. However, despite not being able to score a game winning goal, the Eagles dominated the time of possession battle in the second half coming away with 10 shots in the final 45 minutes to the Rams' two.

Bodean Gaustad (Andover, Minn./Andover) got the start in net for the Eagles and came away with two saves in the contest. Aaron Hill (New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View) led the Eagles' offensive attack with four shots while two of those shots were on target. David DeLoye (Wausau, Wisc./Wausau West), the lone Eagle goal scorer, had three shots in the game while Jackson Bauer (Lake in the Hills. IL./Huntley) and Garrett Miers (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) each had two shots of their own.

The Eagles will have very little time to recover from this hard fought game as they are back in action in only two days' time. The Eagles will head out back on the road to square off with the Minnesota-Morris Cougars on Thursday, October 13th at 1:00 P.M.
