ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UNW Men's Basketball team earned another victory as they took down the Lumberjacks of Northland College 95-70 on Saturday. The Eagles improve their overall record to 13-4 while they remain unbeaten in the conference, sitting at 7-0. UNW has won 11 of their last 12 games.
Just like yesterday's game, the Eagles jumped out to a significant lead as they started the game up 26-0, highlighted by four straight made shots to start the first half. Once the Lumberjacks found their footing, they would battle with Northwestern as both teams continued to exchange buckets, eventually leading to a 52-32 scoreline heading into halftime.
UNW shot 55 percent from the field, including 53.3 percent from beyond the arc while holding NC to 38.7 percent shooting, 33 percent from the three.
Going into the second half, the Eagles continued to dominate on both sides of the court as they would find a lead as big as 30 with six minutes remaining in the game. The Lumberjacks were not able to crack the defense of Northwestern as UNW would take the game 95-70.
The Eagles showed their strength on the board game once again, outrebounding the Lumberjacks 51-30, including 18 offensive rebounds that resulted in 20 second chance points. Just like the women's team earlier in the day, Northwestern showed an unselfish playstyle as they finished the game with 23 assists.
The Eagles had the tale of two different players taking over the game. In the first half, it was
Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake), who finished with 21 points and two assists.
Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) took the baton in the second half, as he led the team in scoring with 26 points while bringing down eight rebounds. Speaking of rebounds, leading UNW in that category was
Caleb Hoilien (Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy), who earned himself a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) also had a strong game with 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles will be off for a couple of days before a big matchup against St. Scholastica. They will be hosting the Saints in the Ericksen Center on Wednesday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. For all things UNW Men's Basketball, fans can follow along at
