BECKER, Minn.- The UNW Men's Golf team headed out to Becker Monday morning to tee it off at the UMAC Preview meet. This event is a good indication as to where team's stand before entering the heart of the season, and getting to the UMAC Championship at the end of the season.

The Eagles competed hard all morning and into the afternoon, and finished in the top half of the conference standings. UNW shot a 338, which was good enough for fourth in the Preview. The Eagles finished eight strokes behind Northland, who finished third. The North Central Rams won the event, shooting a 318.
Max Wilcox (Danville, Iowa/Danville) was coming off of the best performance of his career late last week shooting a 77, and was sharp again on Monday. The junior shot an 80 (+8) to finish in a tie for seventh.
Noah Johnson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) kept pace all day long, finishing one stroke behind his teammate. Johnson's 81 (+9) was good enough for a ninth place tie.
Jackson Nyhus (Henning, Minn./Henning) rounded out the top three Eagle finishers, shooting an 86 (+14).
It was an encouraging afternoon for the Eagles as they kept pace with the top teams in the conference, and got an up close look at what their competition will be like all season long. The Eagles will look to fine tune things the next few weeks before they head back to the same course in early October for the UMAC Championship event.
The Eagles will be back in action this weekend (September 10-11) in Galena, Illinois where they will compete in the Midwest Region Classic.
