HAM LAKE, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's golf team hosted the UNW Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake. The Eagles kept their dominant run this season going with a fifth-consecutive win, placing first against five conference opponents.
UNW shot 371 (+83) to win their invite, leading runner-up Minnesota Morris (384, +96) by 13 strokes. Northland rounded out the top three with a 396 (+108) on the day.
Mattie Krause (Clear Lake, Iowa/Clear Lake) finished second overall at 87 (+15), leading the Eagles and just two strokes behind medalist Hayley Thompson of Bethany Lutheran.
Kelly Van Den Bussche (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) followed Krause to take third overall with a 90 (+18).
Natalie Wilcox (Danville, Iowa./Danville) shot a 94 (+22), taking eighth overall.
The quartet of
Samantha Burkhart (Salix, Iowa/Westwood), Kristen Darling,
Grace Landvik (St. Paul, Minn./Concordia Academy), and
Grace Nyhus (Henning, Minn./Henning) each had a round of 100 (+28) to place just outside the top-ten overall at t-11
th.
Claire Haakenson (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael Albertville) shot a 104 (+32) and
Anna Libbon (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) a 126 (+54) to round out the Eagle scores.
Next up for the Eagles is the Bethany Lutheran Invite this weekend. The two-day competition starts Friday, October 1, at 11 a.m. in Mankato at the Crow River Country Club.
