HAM LAKE, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's golf team hosted the UNW Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake. The Eagles win the invite with a 314 (+26) team score on the day, besting the six other competing conference teams.
The top three teams all finished within just two strokes of each other. Northwestern won their invite by just a single stroke, as North Central took second with a 315 (+27.) Bethany Lutheran followed the Rams in third as the Vikings shot a 316 (+28) as a team.
AJ Watland (Andover, Minn./AFLBS) led UNW with a 77 (+5) on the day, placing fourth overall. The Eagle trio of
Noah Johnson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View),
Jackson Nyhus (Henning, Minn./Henning), and
Max Wilcox (Danville, Iowa/Danville) each shot a 79 (+7) to tie for fifth overall. That three-way tie was crucial, as just a single stroke more and UNW would have at best shared the invitational crown with the Rams.
Jacob Lundin (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) shot an 85 (+13),
Ethan Van Hauwaert (Marshall, Minn./Marshall) an 87 (+15), and
Luke Bogdonovich (Greenwood, Wisc./Loyal) a 93 (+21) to place t-24

Next up for the Eagles is the Bethany Lutheran Invite this weekend. The two-day competition starts Friday, October 1, at 11 a.m. in Mankato at the Crow River Country Club.
