Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team traveled to Minnesota Morris for their second conference game of the 2021 spring season on Wednesday. Although the Eagles out shot the Cougars they were unable to find the back of the net, falling 0-3.
Northwestern falls to 5-6 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play.
First half of action was underway at Big Cat Stadium with rainy weather and colder temperatures. The Cougars were first to get a shot off in the opening minutes of the game. At the 9:59 minute mark, Morris scored a goal, getting through Northwestern's defense.
For the remainder of the half, the Eagles out shot the Cougars 5 to 4. UNW had five opportunities from corner kicks and were unable to finish.
Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Home School) took two shots in the half and
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) took three (one shot-on-goal).
Second half play began with a Northwestern shot by
Amanda Kocurek (North Branch, Minn./North Branch) that was saved by the UMM goalie. The Eagles took seven more shots in the second half but were unable to connect to find the back of the net.
The Cougars scored two more goals in the second to go up 3-0 on UNW.
Northwestern out-shot Morris 12-7 and had nine corner kicks to the Cougars one.
Amanda Kocurek (North Branch, Minn./North Branch) had five shots in the game (two shots-on-goal) and both
Natalie Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan County Christian) and
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) had three shots.
The Eagles will host their first game of the 2021 season on Saturday as they take on North Central University (MN), kickoff is set for 5 pm.
