ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Tennis team swept the Crown College Storm away on Monday night as the Eagles flew to a 9-0 victory.
In the doubles competition, UNW was flawless with a trio of 8-0 victories to propel the Eagles to an early 3-0 lead.
In singles, the Eagles had two more perfect matches as Sabrina Bush (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) and Angel Beaufeaux (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) swept their #5 and #6 singles matches, respectively, with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Reigning NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week Belinda Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #1 singles match. Jessica Gross (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) excelled in the #2 match with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Taylar Smith (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) and Elli Dodge (Wahpeton, N.D./Wahpeton) each earned 6-0, 6-1 victories at #3 and #4 singles, respectively, to round out the 9-0 sweep for the Eagles.
Up next for Northwestern is their final conference match of the regular season as the Eagles travel to face UW-Superior on Wednesday, April 28, at 4pm. UNW then returns home on Thursday, April 29, for their final match of the regular season against Hamline at 4pm.
