ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team hosted the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings for their last regular season matchup of the 2021 spring season.
Luke McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield High School) scores for the Eagles in the second half to tie things at 1-1, but UNW is unable to secure the win, falling 1-4.
The first half of play was a hard fought battle for both teams as the game stayed scoreless until the last 15 seconds. A handball in the box by a Northwestern defender resulted in a Bethany Lutheran penalty kick, bringing the score to 1-0 Vikings at the half. The Eagles took three shots in the first to the Vikings six.
For the first 20 minutes of the second half, UNW kept up their fight allowing only one shot while taking two. In the next 10 minutes of play, Bethany scored three goals to take a 4-1 lead on Northwestern.
The Eagles took 10 shots on the night (7 shots-on-goal) and four corner kicks.
Breen Eiden () took five shots for UNW while
Luke McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield High School) had four and JT Olsen had three.
