WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. - The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Tennis team swept the Martin Luther College Knights on Friday night 9-0.

The match opened in doubles, where the Eagles flew to a 3-0 lead. Jessica Gross (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) and Sabrina Bush (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) swept #3 doubles 8-0, and Taylar Smith (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) and Elli Dodge (Wahpeton, N.D./Wahpeton) likewise swept #2 doubles 8-0. Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and Belinda Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) cruised to an 8-1 win at the #1 doubles match.

In singles, Weddle won the first match at #2 in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) earned the match winner, getting UNW to five points with a 7-5, 6-0 win at the #1 match.

With the win in hand, Northwestern closed out the sweep. Smith won #4 6-0, 6-0. Gross took #3 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Dodge won #5 6-2, 6-4. Bush finished the match at #6 6-0, 6-0.

Up next for Northwestern is a conference match with St. Scholastica. The Eagles travel to face the Saints on Saturday, April 24, at 1pm.
