ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer hosted the UW-Superior Yellow Jackets Wednesday evening for a conference matchup showdown. The Yellow Jackets came into the game undefeated, sitting at 5-0 this season. The Eagles put together an entire game defeating UW-Superior 2-1, breaking their five-game win streak.
UNW improves to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the UMAC, while UW-Superior falls to 5-1. The two Northwestern goals tonight were two of three goals scored on the Yellow Jackets up to this point in their season.
In just the first ten minutes of play, freshman
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) split the defense finding an open shot on net after a pass from
Amanda Kocurek (North Branch, Minn./North Branch), scoring the first goal of the night. Shots were even for both teams at the end of the first half at five.
Ellie Fryer (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) recorded one important save for UNW.
Within the first ten minutes of play in the second half, the Yellow Jackets were able to tie things up at one.

With almost even possession in the second half, each team had many opportunities to score again. In the 67th minute of play, senior
Taylor Brinkman (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) placed the ball into the box off a free kick.
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) kept herself glued to the goalie and used her head to knock in goal number two for Northwestern after a touch by the goalie.
The Eagles held on for the remainder of the time on the clock and earned their fourth win in a row. Both
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) and
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) have six goals on the season to lead their squad.

Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) had three (one shot-on-goal).
Ellie Fryer (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) had six saves on the night to help secure the win for her team. Head Coach
Josh Pettit moves within two of 150 career wins.
Up next for the Eagles will be this Friday as they head to Crown College to take on the Storm, a 7:30 pm kickoff.
