MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Lacrosse team scored 20 goals for just the second time in program history to win a battle on the road at the Cornell College Rams.
Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) and Samantha Wiebold (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) combined to score 14 of the 20 Eagle goals on the night. Sherry led UNW with eight goals on just 12 shots, assisting with four other goals as well to earn 12 points on the night. The senior also led the Eagles with 14 draw controls in the match, caused four turnovers, and picked up four ground balls.
Wiebold scored six goals on a mere eight shots to finish second on the team. The junior additionally picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Abby Scheel (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) scored a pair of goals for UNW while also picking up a team-high five ground balls.
Jamie Ellis (Farmington, Minn./Homeschool), Cara Smith (Watertown, Wis./Watertown), Mary Schmitz (Isle, Minn./Isle), and Emma Snyder (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) each scored a goal in the Eagle victory.
Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) recorded nine saves in goal to secure the win for Northwestern, her fourth of the season.
