ASHLAND, Wis. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team traveled to Northland College Tuesday for a conference match-up against the Lumber Jills. After being down early, the Eagles fought their way back in the second half to pull out the win, 2-1.
UNW improves to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in UMAC play. Head Coach,

Early in the first half of play, the Eagles let in a goal by the Jills to go down 0-1 at the 10-minute mark. In the first half, Northwestern had a mere two shots, while Northland took five. Going into halftime, UNW knew they had to make changes to pull out the win.
Nearly five minutes past kick-off,
RJ Mullin (Temecula, Calif./Rancho Christian) scored a header off of an assist from
Natalie Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan County Christian) (on a corner kick) to tie the game up 1-1. Just seven minutes later,
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) connected, again with her head off of an
Amanda Kocurek (North Branch, Minn./North Branch) pass.
The Eagles led for the rest of the half, holding off the Lumber Jills to win their second conference game. Northwestern allowed just two shots after they took the lead.
Junior,
RJ Mullin (Temecula, Calif./Rancho Christian) scored her second goal of the season while taking three shots and senior,
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) had her fourth goal of the season with four total shots. Center defender,
Taylor Brinkman (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) took four shots of her own, to put heat on the Northland goalie.
Shots between the two teams were even at eight, with 7-4 shots-on-goal, led by Northwestern. The Eagles put together strong defense and precise offensive attacks to finish with the win.
The next match for UNW is this coming Saturday as they host Martin Luther College, kick-off set for 1 pm.
