ST. Paul, Minn. – The University of Northwestern St. Paul Women's Lacrosse team defeated the Monmouth College Scots in an 11-5 final on Saturday afternoon as the Eagles improved to 1-1 in MWLC play.
Samantha Wiebold (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) led Northwestern with six points with a team-high five goals and an assist. The junior is second on the team this season in goals and points while leading the team in assists.
Maddie Nimmo (Somerset, Wis./Hill-Murray) recorded a hat trick for the Eagles to finish second on the team in goals scored. Cara Smith (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won seven draw controls while leading the team with 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Megan Roberts (Greeley, Colo./Dayspring Christian Academy) earned the win for the Eagles, saving three shots and improving to 2-1 on the year in net.
