Men’s Lacrosse Scores 21 in Home Opener

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern St. Paul Men's Lacrosse team put on a show in their first home game in nearly two years. The Eagles offense exploded for a 21-5 win over the Cornell College Rams on Wednesday night.

Reigning MLC Offensive Player of the Week Chase Marlenee (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) led the attack for UNW with seven goals on a night in which seven Eagles scored. Keller Stephens (Lino Lakes, Minn./Mounds View) followed with five goals in the win.

The duo of Noah Vander Kooi (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) and Mat Anderson (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville) each had a hat trick for the Eagles.

Joining in on the scoring fun were the trio of Peyton LaMere (Holmen, Wis./Holmen), Parker Schmidgall (Hancock, Minn./Hancock ), and Evan Anderson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine), who each found the back of the Rams' net.

Brenden Schuffenhauer (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial) was a near unstoppable force on the faceoff, winning 23 of his 30 opportunities with tremendous speed.

In goal, Christoph Tisdale (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) earned his first win of the season for Northwestern with an eight-save performance.

The last time UNW hosted a home contest was on April 24, 2019, in a match against Concordia University Wisconsin.

Next up for the Eagles is a matchup at home against Elmhurst University on Saturday, March 20, at 11am.
