ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Northwestern St. Paul Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Illinois to take on the Augustana College Vikings on Saturday, falling 15-7 in the contest.
Noah Vander Kooi (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) led the Eagles' attack with four goals on the day. The senior scored the first goal for UNW as well as the final three for the Eagles.
Augustana started out fast and took a lead in the first half. However, Northwestern adjusted and kept fighting, outscored the Vikings 6-5 in the second half.
The Eagles were a force in the face offs, winning 18 to the Vikings' eight. UNW also hustled to the ball, picking up 37 ground balls while Augustana got 28.
Next up for Northwestern is their home opener against Cornell College at Reynolds Field on March 17 at 7pm.
