Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Elijah Lundell

Eagles Shoot Lights Out in 105-72 Victory Over Muskies

PLYMOUTH, Wis.– On Saturday afternoon, the University of Northwestern men's basketball team made the trip to Lakeland to take on the Muskies in their last matchup before the holiday break. The Eagles would take the game 105-72 and improve their overall record to 7-3.

It was a back and forth first half as the game saw nine lead changes between the two teams in the first 13 minutes, leading to a 25-25 tie. However, starting with a Henry Fahnbulleh (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) layup with 6:28 left on the clock, the Eagles would then outscore the Muskies 32-6, highlighted by an astonishing 6-for-8 from beyond the arc during the run. UNW would enter half time leading 57-31 thanks to the ridiculous run.

Noah Alm (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Kyle Kaemingk (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) were on fire in the first half, they combined for 35 of UNW's 57 points. The Eagles all together shot 67 percent from the field, including 56 percent from the three-point line. Keeping up with the rebound theme from the women's game, the men's team outrebounded the Muskies 22-15.

In the second half, the Eagles continued their dominance on all sides of the ball. The Eagles finished the game shooting 62 percent from the field, 59 percent from three, and 71 percent from the free throw line. UNW held the Muskies to 39 percent shooting while continuing their board domination, bringing in 43 rebounds to Lakeland's 32.

Alm and Kaemingk led the Eagles with 25 points and 22 points apiece. Alm shot 7-for-8 from the three-point line while Kaemingk shot 3-for-5. Three players would tie for third most points as Caleb Waldeck (Newhall, Calif./Hart High), Caleb Hoilien (Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy), and Fahnbulleh all had 10 points. Fahnbulleh also led all Eagles in rebounds with nine total.

The Eagles will get a nice break for the holidays before heading to California for two games. The first game will be against California Lutheran University on Tuesday, December 28 at 6:00 p.m. PST. For more information on UNW Men's Basketball, follow the team on social media at @unwmbb.
