ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team hosted Martin Luther College Saturday afternoon. Eight seniors were honored at halftime for their careers at UNW and dedication to the program.
The Eagles defeated Martin Luther 1-0 in a tightly contested matchup.
In the sixth minute, a foul in the box allowed
Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Home School) to slot in her 4th goal of the season. This would be the only goal the Eagle's needed to take the final regular season game of the 2021 season.
The defense on both sides stayed strong as the 1st half came to an end. The Eagle's outshot the Knights 17-2.
The second half continued the story of the first as the Eagle's continued to apply pressure. This time the Eagle's would not allow a single shot from the Knights. Northwestern would finish with 35 shots on the night.
UNW finished the regular season 11-5-2, going 11-1-2 in conference play. They will be hosting the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Wednesday, November 3rd for a semi-final matchup.
